Support Students Who are Homeless and Attending Roanoke City Public Schools

Roanoke City Public Schools (RCPS) has identified 292 students as homeless so far this school year.

The Help the Homeless Fund is helping to prevent families from becoming homeless.  To date, Roanoke City Public Schools has provided $43,183.86 in support to help 286 families, which has impacted 622 of our students.  The fund supports things such as utility payments or rent to prevent evictions. The funding is used to fill the gaps after all other community resources have been exhausted.

Homelessness can take on many different forms. For some of our students they live in shelters. Others live in hotels or are doubling up with our families. Simply put, a student who is considered homeless doesn't have a permanent residence or the stability that comes with a place to call home.
