William Fleming receives national recognition

William Fleming students and teachers holding Special Olympics BannerFor the ninth consecutive year, William Fleming High School hosted the Big Feet Meet.  The event featured more than 400 middle and high school students from across the region participated in the Special Olympics.  Roanoke City Public Schools was represented by student athletes from William Fleming, Patrick Henry, Lucy Addison, James Madison, and Woodrow Wilson.

During the opening ceremony, William Fleming High School was recognized as a National Unified Champion Banner School.  Fleming met national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy and respect.  Just 8 schools in Virginia, and 38 nationwide, have earned this distinction.  Principal Freeman says the banner will be proudly displayed inside the school.  Congratulations Colonels.
