Jamie Nichols named Regional Teacher of the Year

Jamie Nichols of Lucy Addison MiddleShe's been named Lucy Addison Middle School's Teacher of the Year, Roanoke's Teacher of the Year, and now Regional Teacher of the Year.  During a surprise assembly, Jamie Nichols was named the Region 6 Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Nichols teaches math at Lucy Addison Middle School. 

Shelley Loving-Ryder, Virginia's assistant superintendent, made the announcement in front of a crowd of teachers, students, and district leaders.  Ms. Nichols was presented with a bouquet of flowers and balloons. 

She will now compete in the state competition in Richmond. 
“Each of these teachers goes the extra mile to prepare students for success in any path they choose to take after high school,” Governor Northam said. ”They are a tremendous example of the best of Virginia's educational system, and I'm proud they are teachers in this commonwealth." 


Ms. Nichols is the third Regional Teacher of the Year from Roanoke City Schools in the last six years.
