Course Description:   You will create lessons using SMART Learning Suite and SMART Notebook that you can share with your students at school or have them complete at home. The lessons will include content you create and activities from the SMART Learning Suite. The lessons can be added to Clever or Teams as a link so students can access from anywhere.  
Assignment: Aligning the lessons with SOLs you teach, you will create multiple page notebooks for your students. You will have to spend at least 19 hours creating content in addition to the one hour in class to receive credit.

Many teachers think of GimKit as a great tool to use during school hours, but by using Assignments and Seasons students can learn at home while still experiencing the fun strategies that are associated with playing in class.  
Join us as we take GimKit out of the classroom and into the world of online engagement. 
Assignment:   The teachers will create their own GimKit games to virtually share in class with students. The teachers will explore all the various settings to best suit their specific classroom situations. 
BEFORE the class meeting on June 10, participants will complete assigned required GimKits and visit our GimKit website. Instructions for these assignments will be posted in the class channel in Teams on June 8th.

Course Description:  The very basics of computer programming can be learned by playing games. Today’s technology can teach our students (and us) complex computer logic by masking it as levels and challenges! 
Computer technology is everywhere; in our phones, computers, cars and homes. It controls our power, telecommunications, transport, networks and almost everything else. Kids today grow up surrounded by this technology, all that means is that they know how to consume technology. We want to turn our consumers into creators! It is essential that today’s students learn not only to be effective users of technology but masters of it: They should be able to control it, to shape it, or in other words to program it. 
Assignment: In this class we will learn the basics of coding using the games, unplugged activities and lesson plans provided on the website code.org.  We will also learn about the VA Computer Science SOLs for our grade level and use them to help build Computer Science into our lessons and routines.

Learn about apps that students can use to create blogs, how they can collaborate on activities together, create digital portfolios, presentations and more. All of these can also be used while teaching in the classroom. Teachers will learn about using Microsoft Teams as a starting point for their plan. 
Assignment: Teachers will be required to create a plan to "transform" their classroom to an online learning environment. The plan will include tools they will use and an explanation of how students will be involved in the learning/creating process. Once a plan is created, the teachers will create an online class for blended learning. Lesson plans that show how this will be implemented in the online classroom will have to be included.
