RECOGNITION 

Teacher of the Year

PURPOSE: To recognize outstanding instructional employees

DESCRIPTION: This award program is in place to recognize individuals who are dedicated to excellence through educating students in Roanoke City Public Schools.

Retiree Recognition

PURPOSE: To recognize retiring employees for their years of service to Roanoke City Public Schools.

DESCRIPTION: Retiring employees are invited to attend an annual School Board Recognition Banquet to be recognized by the School Board Members and Superintendent for their years of service.

Service Awards

PURPOSE: To recognize employees for their years of service to the District.

DESCRIPTION: Employees receive a gift associated with the highest attained milestone year to date, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30+ years. Milestone years are calculated for full time staff based on years attained. Employees receive a recognition pin as they reach their next milestone, every five years.


Tuition Assistance 

Teacher Education Pathways (TEP)

PURPOSE: Funds will be available to assist with tuition and licensure testing for employees who currently are not teachers.

DESCRIPTION: Roanoke City Public Schools and Roanoke City School Board are committed to finding qualified teachers who are dedicated to RCPS. TEP is a wonderful opportunity for those employees who need assistance in fulfilling their career goals of becoming a teacher.

Tuition Reimbursement

PURPOSE: Partial tuition reimbursement for college courses to encourage employees to continue their education.

DESCRIPTION:  A pre-determined amount of continuing education credits used to advance the education of RCPS employees as it relates to their current career track.  This offers the chance to increase industry knowledge, develop professionally and obtain advanced skills.  Tuition reimbursement is contingent upon the availability of funds and will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
