Young Scientist Challenge Competition

Discovery Education and 3M is hosting the Young Scientist Challenge Competition. Students in grades 5 through 8 are asked to create a 1 to 2 minute video that showcases a new, innovative solution that can solve an everyday problem. Ten finalists can receive $1,000 and a trip to 3M's World Headquarters in St. Paul, MN. One grand prize winner will receive $25,000. C-SPAN StudentCam Competition

C-SPAN is calling for entries into its 2015 StudentCam Competition. This competition is a national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect the community and nation. Open to students in grades 6-12, students are asked to submit a short documentary video on the selected theme. The 2015 theme is "The Three Branches and You." Students are asked to tell a story demonstrating how a policy, law, or action by one of the three branches of government has affected them or their community. Journalism Education Association Contest

The Sigma Delta Chi Foundation of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Journalism Education Association are seeking applicants for the 2015 High School Essay Contest. Students are asked to respond to a question: "Why is it important for journalists to seek the news and report it?" Awards range from $300 to $1,000.
