Patrick Henry Symphonic Band performs at Carnegie Hall in New York CityThey made Roanoke proud.  Students from Patrick Henry High School's Symphonic Band performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 14.  Plenty of parents were in attendance as the students performed for 45 minutes at the prestigious concert hall.

More than a 100 students made the trip to the Big Apple.  During the four-day trip, the students visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the 9/11 Memorial.  They also saw The Lion King on Broadway.  We are told many students were crying during the performance.

While in New York, Band Director Mr. Schmitt and several students were interviewed by VH1 Save the Music.  Roanoke City Schools have a close relationship with VH1.  All of our elementary schools have access to musical instruments thanks to VH1 Save the Music.
